Digital transformation in the process industry
A major technology partner in the process industry engaged Precedence to identify a new inspection system for seven factories at the Chemelot site. This was a complex challenge requiring a solution that satisfied all stakeholders. In the fall of 2023, Precedence was brought in to manage this transition successfully, with People Change Consultant Fleur Ozerée leading the project. Her role? Ensuring the selection of a system that would drive long-term success for the client.

A complex balancing act
The client faced the challenge of replacing a 20-year-old inspection system across seven factories, each with unique requirements. Finding a system that worked for both large and small factories added complexity to the selection process.
Fleur Ozerée took on this intricate stakeholder landscape, ensuring that the new system was not only technologically advanced but also met the diverse operational needs of all factories. With her expertise, she aligned all stakeholders, paving the way for successful adoption and implementation.
“We empower people during change, bringing out the best in organizations.”
Teamwork for a successful implementation
“To ensure a smooth transformation, we formed a project team with subject matter experts from the client’s organization, with me as Project Lead,” Fleur explains. “Together, we managed the entire system selection process. My approach integrated project management, people change, and process optimization.”
The process began with an in-depth analysis of the existing system, user needs, and future requirements. Based on these insights, the team explored the market, compared solutions, and evaluated potential partners. Through multiple proposal and demonstration rounds, they ultimately selected the best system for the client.
Change management for sustainable results
Fleur emphasizes the importance of direct engagement:
“Maximum customer involvement means being present and actively fostering buy-in. When stakeholders see the value of a solution, they are more likely to support it. My role is to ensure that the project team feels empowered and engaged throughout the process.”

Her belief is that sustainable transformation only succeeds when people are at the center—actively shaping and embracing the change. By involving and supporting employees throughout the transition, Precedence lays the foundation for long-term success.
A strong foundation for the future
The outcome? “Through active stakeholder involvement, we successfully selected a system that meets all requirements. We have laid the groundwork for a seamless transition to the new system, driving efficiency gains and enhancing the client’s market position. For me, this feels like a personal achievement,” Fleur shares. “Managing such a complex mix of stakeholders was a challenge I was excited to tackle, and so far, it has been a success!”
“Maximum customer involvement means being visible and creating buy-in so that the value of your solution is recognized.”
Celebrating success together
Fleur highlights the importance of team cohesion: “One of my personal successes was bringing in expertise the client didn’t have internally, delivering direct value. I also focused on fostering a sense of connection. After each milestone, I organized informal gatherings with the project team and stakeholders to celebrate our progress. At Precedence, we believe a relaxed atmosphere encourages engagement—where people can be themselves, share ideas, and even have a laugh. That’s how we build strong connections.”
